Scenic Field Horseback Riding at Mabry Farm
(In Partnership with the Mabry Family)
King Equestrian Center is proud to partner with the Mabry family to offer guided open field riding experiences on their scenic 20-acre pasture property located directly beside Mabry Park. This unique collaboration allows riders to enjoy wide-open space, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful park-side views just 15 minutes from our main training and lesson facility.
Unlike traditional wooded trail rides, riding at Mabry Farm takes place primarily across open pasture and rolling fields. This style of riding offers uninterrupted views, fresh air, and a relaxed pace, creating a calm and enjoyable experience for riders who want to connect with the horse and the landscape without the confinement of narrow trails.
Through our partnership, the Mabry family provides the land and natural setting, while King Equestrian Center contributes experienced staff, carefully selected horses, and professional riding standards. Together, we work to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience that reflects our shared commitment to horse welfare, rider safety, and responsible horsemanship.
Mabry Farm field rides are ideal for beginners, families, and anyone looking for a scenic, low-pressure riding experience in an open, natural environment beside one of the area’s most peaceful parks.

How the Ride Works
Field rides at Mabry Farm are a one-hour guided experience designed to prioritize safety, comfort, and enjoyment for every rider.
-
Cost: $80 per person
-
Age Requirement: 16 years and older
-
Maximum rider weight: 160 pounds
-
Duration: Approximately 60 minutes total
First 10 minutes:
Guests begin by signing required waivers, being fitted with approved riding helmets, and reviewing basic safety guidelines with staff. Horses are then brought out, and riders are assisted with proper mounting.
Next 10 minutes:
Before heading into the field, riders receive hands-on instruction covering essential riding basics. This includes how to start and stop, steer, maintain safe spacing between horses, perform an emergency stop, and follow group riding etiquette. This ensures that all riders feel confident and prepared before the ride begins.
If at any point during this instructional period the trainer determines that a rider is not yet ready to safely participate in the open field portion, the ride will continue within the arena for the remainder of the session. This decision is made solely in the interest of rider safety, horse welfare, and the safety of the group.
Final 40 minutes:
When deemed appropriate by the trainer, the remainder of the experience is spent riding through the open fields of Mabry Farm alongside Mabry Park. Riders enjoy a relaxed, guided field ride at a steady pace in a scenic, open setting.
This structured process allows riders of varying experience levels to have a positive, safe experience while maintaining clear safety standards for all participants.
